CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Engineer I (submit resume)
Requirements: Four-year bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering, 0 – 4 years work experience; EIT Certification preferred.
Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the preparation of site layout, subdivision plan, site plan, public improvement plan, drainage study, grading study, floodplain study, adjoining owner notification, code update, cut sheet. Assistance will include utility layout (horizontal and vertical), grading, street design, SWM facilities, open channel flow, storm and sanitary sewer design, erosion siltation controls, BMP’s and transportation engineering. Proficient use of ACAD 2004 and other relevant software required. Additionally, assist in the communication with clientele and local government agencies, i.e. attend any necessary meetings or conferences as needed.
  • Assistance to the planning and surveying departments will be required as needed and as the workload permits, to include the preparation of feasibility studies, zoning submittals and survey functions as required.
  • Office management may include filing, organizing, creating work areas on occasion as needed, etc. During the course of normal county research or attendance at meetings, deliveries for the office may be included.
  • Cognizant appreciation of performance and billing as a team member, participation in the Company Computer User Group meetings or other relevant continuing education groups/committees.

Engineer II (submit resume)
Requirements: Four-year bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering, Four years work experience; EIT Certification; P.E. license within four years.
Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of site layouts, subdivision plans, site plans, public improvement plans, drainage studies, grading studies, floodplain studies, adjoining owner notifications, code updates and occasional cut sheets. Responsibilities will include utility layouts (horizontal and vertical), grading, street design, SWM facilities, open channel flow, storm and sanitary sewer design, erosion siltation controls, BMP’s and transportation engineering. These design components will be completed utilizing ACAD and other relevant software to the maximum extent possible.
  • Assist in the communication with clientele and local government agencies, i.e. attend meetings or conferences as needed. Work with clients, County and sub-consultants to facilitate efficient processing of plans.
  • Office management may include filing, organizing, creating work areas on occasion as needed, etc. During the course of normal county research or attendance at meetings, deliveries for the office may be included.
  • Cognizant appreciation of performance and billing as a team member, participation in the Company Computer User Group meetings or other relevant continuing education groups/committees.
  • Assistance to the planning and surveying departments may be required as the workload permits, to include the preparation of feasibility studies, zoning submittals and survey functions, as well as filing, county research and county submittals.

Field Party Chief (submit resume)
Requirements: Minimum eight years field related survey stakeouts, locations, boundary and topographic surveys. Exceptional knowledge of field procedures, stakeout computations, and use of E.D.M.’s, levels and data collectors.
Responsibilities include:

  • All aspects of field land surveying including but not limited to boundary, topographic surveys, construction stakeout, as-built surveys, locations and A.L.T.A. surveys.
  • Execute field coordinator and licensed land surveyor’s instructions for daily tasks.
  • Supervise field crew while directing all aspects of survey duties.
  • Provide appropriate amount of training to subordinate field crewmembers.
  • Maintain professional attitude in Company vehicles and on job sites at all times.
  • The use of electronic field books and related functions as required to upload, download and edit field data.
  • Maintain degree of accuracy for job at hand (quality control) and job safety.
  • Field crew training.
  • When field conditions prove unacceptable, office help may be required including but not limited to as-built, computer training, wall checks, cutsheets, deed research, etc.

Survey Technician (submit resume)
Requirements: Minimum of five (5) years of practical survey computer experience utilizing AutoCAD. Must possess ability to utilize project information and CADD knowledge to complete a variety of complex survey computing assignments and other survey office duties.
Responsibilities include:

  • Computation of house stakeouts, wall checks, final and assist in the preparation of subdivision layouts, record plats, easements plats, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, data compilation, hardcopy, and other miscellaneous survey computations.
  • Utilize all base information and feasibility studies and understand all project critical path elements.
  • Responsible for preparation and tracking of as-built plans.
  • Work with project engineer to complete all projects on time and within budget while limiting County comments.
  • Participation in AutoCAD user group within company or other relevant continuing education groups/committees.
  • Attendance at one continuing education class per year.
  • Coordination, submittal, and monitoring of plats to County.
  • The operator may be required to assist in office deliveries, printing preparation, transmittals and telephone coordination for projects.

AWARDS

January, 2017
LDC was the recipient of an award from Fairfax County at their Land Conservation and Tree Preservation Awards ceremony regarding extraordinary tree preservation for an infill lot grading plan in McLean, Virginia.   LDC is proud to have partnered with Bryton Homes and S.E.S. to ensure the preservation of several existing trees as part of the construction of a new home and septic field.

January, 2016
LDC was the recipient of an award from Fairfax County at their Land Conservation and Tree Preservation Awards ceremony regarding extraordinary tree preservation for Spring Lake, Section 3.   LDC is proud to have partnered with Sekas Homes, Ltd. and TNT Environmental to deliver this unique infill community in Vienna, Virginia.  The community was the subject of a rezoning approval to construct eight single family detached homes utilizing a private street.

LDC was the recipient of two awards from Fairfax County at their Land Conservation and Tree Preservation Awards ceremony. LDC was the only firm that was a recipient of two or more awards. The awards honor engineers whose project best demonstrate excellence in erosion and sediment control design and implementation or a commitment to tree preservation in the county.
